DA Community.
Thought it was about high time for another update on Asher. As well as myself though Im sure most of you care more about my pooch by now

. Asher is doing alright so far on strict orders of no running and only minimal play. However, making a 7 month old puppy obey those orders is quite another story. I can only do so much to keep him from jumping and bouncing when he's not suppose to when we play, but the running has been a bit easier to curb. It is terribly disgruntling and sad however to have to listen to the pop of his knees with every step and the grinding of his hips. It can't feel good but he tries so hard to keep up and stay happy. He's a real trooper.
As for commissions I am about to finish up K'seyrs. Yes these to take a bit longer when they are all done traditionally. But I also think they look nicer.
In other news there is another dog that is in need of help.

pup has a slew of medical problems and is also in need of some love. so if you could please please plase drop by and show her the same love and support that you have shown me I would be very greatful.

Due to the outpouring of so many wonderful DA members I was able to recieve enough money to take Asher to the Vet and get him X-rayed as well as have blood work done. Unfortunately it looks like Asher is not going to be as ok as I had hoped originally. Even though I knew it was probably going to be pretty bad still seeing it for myself on the X-rays with my own eyes in something entirely different. My baby Asher has essentially no hip socket and no bone to go into that socket. The only thing holding his legs onto his body right now is muscle. The bones aren't even sitting close to where the socket should be. If I was smart I would have brought the X-rays home and loaded them. But yes. Asher's muscles are the only thing holding his legs together.
Also due to the rate at which is legs are already deteriorating and the amount of wear and tear that happens simply by him getting up and walking, he only has 6 months to a year to walk and we will be lucky if we can get that. After that the only choices have are going to be to try a risky hip surgery that will give him a 50% chance of being crippled completely when he comes out of it, or to put him down. It isn't cancer, but the time span of life that he will get it probably going to be the same. For now all I can do is keep him on a glucosamine and chondroiton high diet *which I already have him on thanks to "Nutro: Natrual Choice" dog food and if he gets in too much pain put him on anti inflamatories... which will ultimately ruin his liver.
Thank you one and all once again for at least letting me find out what was wrong with him and in some ways putting to truth what my fears already were. I am going through now and trying to list out everyone who has donated, commissioned, and just said thank you. Please bare with me if it takes a while to get this updated. Once again I can not say thank you enough for helping me and my puppy. I am going to treasure what little time we do have together.
PS: Thank you all for sending money to paypal. but if your getting a commission I sort of need to know your real name so i can make the connection XD thank you. Cause I don't know who Mellissa is as opposed to Amy ><. If you have commissioned me and don't see yourself on the list note me again, you will be added. Im just spastic and frazzzed right now.
If you donated and don't see yourself on the list, note me, and you will be added to my Thank You list. I wan't everyone to have credit for helping.

The vet-tech in me wants to ask more questionslike, is the diabetes a sure thing? If so it CAN be beaten into submission. That usually means get a blood-glucose tester and testing him regularly and giving him insulin if needed. The bone problem could be related to diabetes (muscle pain) or it could be something else. Sorry... working in a vet hospital for over a year makes me obsessive to find these things out.
I'll try and rustle up some money to get a commission at the end of the month.
have you talked to the person you got your puppy from yet? They may be able to give you an insight into Asher's problems. Some dogs do inherent hip problems that develop at a young age.
