To Stand.

So after watching the brilliant movie, "V for Vendetta" I have once again been amazed and inspired. Not only at how far the US has fallen into disrepair for many many reasons, but also how I do continue, every day to try and further people or inspire people to keep hope. Through art, talking about voting, helping people get signed up to vote, or even helping them take a stand on something they feel passionate about. Thats one thing that most of America has seemingly forgotten about. To stand up for what you believe in. "Have A Dream," but its not just enough to have a dream. You have to be able to force your dreams into reality, and sitting at a computer or video game concil day in and day out is NOT going to help you do that. Go to meetings, get on commitee boards, support your city, make a change at school, talk to the heads of state. Walk in and demand to see your laws and know your rights.

And most of all, DON'T let your freedom be taken away from you.

Ever since 9/11 the government has gone around and found ways to slowly take away our freedom at all lvls. Yes ID has always been required, birth certificates, drivers liscence, state ID, school ID, membership ID to stores, Credit Cards have numbers on them that represent you, Debit Cards, Checks, Cell Phones, Lap Tops, Cars. All have numbers.... Numbers. Numbers that make you, you. And if you are with out them, you don't exist or are taken into custody until you can prove who you are if THEY so choose. How scary is that?

I remember a time when I could go to school and the highest authority was the security guards *who didn't have a uniform, gun, or club.... just pink slips.* and your vice principal and principal. The only other people you answered to were your parents and your teachers *if you really had to*. When I got into high school it was the same for my Freshman year. Then 9/11 happened. Yes it was a tragedy, yes people died, yes we spent the entire day in CHUGIAK ALASKA watching what was happening on our class TV's and listening to it on the radio. By 5th period lunch time I was sick of it and taking pools with my friends betting on when the idiots were going to make it into a movie so they could profit off of the peoples misery.
After 9/11 suddenly we had to have cops in the school, you didn't whisper words like bomb, gun, war, or any other such things that could possibly be scewed into something that might be dangerous.

Suddenly you couldn't stick up for yourself either. If a kid hit you, you were suppose to do nothing. Because you would BOTH be expelled for fighting. Not a detention, not suspension, EXPELLED. Meaning no more high school education for you. It was a huge threat. But more so to who? The bullies? Or the kids that suddenly weren't able to throw a bunch back to prove they could, to get the bullies off of our backs. People wonder why we have school shootings. Why kids take GUNS to school at all. If you oppress a child long enough, tell them they don't mean anything, belittle them, shove them around, push them to the ground, spit on them enough times, They are going to go and get the biggest weapon they can find in order to prove themselves. Even if up until that point they were trying to be good kids by NOT REACTING TO IT, BECAUSE ITS ILLEGAL TO STAND UP FOR YOURSELF IN THE FIRST PLACE!

All across the nation parents are blaming the teachers and video games for the violence of their children or the bullying that their children receive. But shouldn't the be blaming THEMSELVES for bitching whenever their child was made fun of and NOT teaching the child how to stand up for themselves? Shouldn't they be blaming THEMSELVES for the fact that their child doesn't get enough attention at home and thus acts out in class in any way they can. Shouldn't parents be blaming THEMSELVES for threatening their child "if you hit them, I'll take it all away." and the school district, "cause your parents will sue us, we can't allow you to defend yourself." Its bull shit. My father always told me, "Let them swing first. They try to bring you harm, lay them flat." You know what. I did. I would be the good little "christian" and every time someone picked on me I would turn my cheek, and turn my cheek, until I felt it was enough, and as soon as they started something again, I laid them flat. Once was all it ever took. Once, and I had my freedom from bullies for the next 4-5 years.

If the principal or security guards try to tell you that "your part of the school district and thats different then the "real world."" As them for clarification on what the real world is and if they've ever been there. The world is always real, its always there and you being 6-18 in the school district has NOTHING to do with the fact that you are still a REAL person and a REAL citizen in a REAL country for F' Sake.

If kids are ALLOWED to show bullies that they can stand up for themselves then they won't have a problem anymore. There will be LESS to NO school shootings and thats just a start with kids.

Now lets look at things on a national level. If your an adult and someone bumps into you, you could sue them for assault. Do you know how many people actually do? It's freaking ridiculous. You've all heard the stories and you've all gone, "God thats f'ing ridiculous. I can't believe someone would stoop so low." Well, change it. If someone bumps into you, "Oh, pardon me." Works just great. If someone punches you, well thats a different story. I'll let you decide on whether or not to use your fight or flight instincts. People, if you can't fight them, hand them your purse. It will probably not only surprise them, but its ALL MATERIAL STUFF. If yer dead, you can't get it back. If your alive, chances are you can at least replace the stuff. Oh and gals, another thing for you. DONT BE STUPID. Don't walk alone at night, don't walk down dark allies, dont dress like a freaking whore, and don't go into situations you think are dangerous. If it feels bad that means it IS BAD. Don't give yourself the chance to get stuck in a situation you can't get out of.

But when it comes to saaaaaaaay, Gay Marriage and the government *which has NO business being or dealing with the church I might remind you.* tries to say no, stand up for these people. After all why are we worried about people LOVING one another. Should we not instead be worried about people HATING one another? GRANTED it is the CHURCHES right to not want to marry the couple under RELIGIOUS ceremony. However, this does not mean that that couple is not going to be living together, sharing a car, sharing a bank account, paying the bills together etc. A LEGAL marriage done by the STATE, *which is ONCE AGAIN different from the CHURCH* should give them the choice to be "married" or have a "civil union."

Abortion. Another big issue. We have the freedom to do what we choose in this country and always have, even now as a woman I have the right to vote to where 100 yrs ago I didn't. Thats huge. But girls, lets keep taking it one step further. Demand the right to YOUR OWN BODY. Don't let the church tell YOU what to do. Don't let the STATE tell you what to do. If you want to keep the child, then do, if you don't then don't. You all have your reasons and your reasons are your OWN and NO ONE else's. What the church and a lot of people who try to use religion PURELY as the only reason for women to not get an abortion don't realize is this. If you make abortion illegal, and take away all the clinics, and all the doctors, and all the nurses who know how to PROPERLY and SAFELY preform the procedure, thats not going to stop women from getting it done. That just means that women are going to have to find new, *or old* and DANGEROUS ways of getting rid of that unborn fetus. and possibly injuring or killing THEMSELVES in the process. Like I said, if you don't like it, don't do it. But DO NOT go forcing others to not do something just because YOU don't feel its right.

I guess my end and main point is this. People need to STAND UP for their RIGHTS and what they believe in. I am not saying this next point in a derogatory manner so DO NOT take it that way. But the only people in America that I have seen stand up for themselves lately are the illegal immigrants and their relatives that are already here. THEY are making themselves known, holding rallies, making sure that THEIR VOICES are heard. As such things are being changed for them. You have to get up in peoples faces *preferably in a non violent way* and make sure that YOUR VOICE gets heard. If you are the most obnoxious, most well know face and voice, they are going to have to listen to you and give you what you want, if ONLY to get you off of their backs.

MAIN POINT: STAND UP FOR YOURSELVES AND WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN. VOTE, GET IN YOUR POLITICIANS FACES AND LET THEM KNOW WHAT YOU WANT CHANGED!

If I have offended you. Good. Maybe you'll flame me and then write your parents, teachers, school district, senators and governor's letters, get up off your asses and start making a change.

:flame: Fire Dragoness ...do NOT touch, you will be scratched!!!
yes, yes it is. It's sort of scary how much it parallels a few of the governments around the world right now. >< Especially *sadly* the US.

What you're saying makes a lot of sense. Come to think of it, guns used to be a whole lot easier to get. But were there school shootings? No, there were schoolyard brawls.

It's been a long time since I had to deal with bullies. Everything changed due to an accident - I was walking home, this asshole was behind me, and I just kind of swung my arm around. Cracked him right in the nose without looking, sent him home crying. Even after changing schools several times, bullies were never a problem, because the fact that I could and would defend myself was forever embedded in my personality. Though, this may have gone too far - I'm not happy if there's no conflict, and I will get involved in any fight I can.

It's ironic; even though my attitude, my voice tone, the way I look at people, can scare bullies away, or even scare a teacher into not giving me detention, I'm never officially considered a threat. People today are just so unobservant, it seems.

I'm the kind of person who's bark may or may not be worse than their bite. But I do give plenty of warning before defending myself.

But something I have noticed in our nation is apathy towards everything: politics, science, education, the world...you name it; if it's not popular according to the media, then it apparently doesn't matter.

And as a sidenote, it's funny how common sense isn't very common. Personally, I believe that a little bit of logic and thought can go a loooong way.

I have gone to find myself. If I get back before I return please keep me here.
Finally a rant that makes sense and isn't about the media, or some abused celebrity.

The whole Gay marriage thing is a great point. If a couple isn't Christian, why are they still told what to do by the Christian church? They say homosexuality isn't natural, but it's present in the animal kingdom too. Well, that just proves the opposite, doesn't it.

Hmmm... I wonder if there are any neurological differences in a homosexuals brain compared to a heterosexual. not so we can "fix" it, but just to know

And the abortion? Why are men telling women what to do with there bodies? It's a known fact that men get all the pleasure, it's been scientifically proven. Women do get it, but by the time the guy gets his orgasm, the girl still has a way to go. Sooo, in a sense, the man didn't "work" to make that child. he just took a chance for pleasure, and, basically, left the girl to deal with the rest, as in supporting and raising a child she never wanted.

Sure some girls may have said, "go ahead, no condom." then it's there responsibility to deal with the problem of the child. Abortion should be dealt like we deal with cases in a court of law. A case by case judgment by a panel of FEMALE "judges" if you would.

Only time there should be a panel of only men, is for a sports talk show, or construction, or other such thing. Men should be part of decisions, yes, but first they must be educated.

I'm a guy, speaking from the point of view of a person who has seen the world. (this is for the people who are reading to flame me for this comment.)

All in all I think I may write a journal on this same kind of topic now, heh. You'd be a good talk show host, or critic.

I stood up for myself today by saying "fuck the meat industry". I went and caught my own dinner. Its in the kicthen ... now how do I kill it. XD

But I get what you are say 100%. THERE IS A WAY TO GET AROUND IT, its called being a "sovreign" citizen. Basically, the government cant touch you, IRS cant touch you, Police cant touch you "within reason". Problem is, you give up all the protection of your government.
You also give up the monitary status that they use to create currency. "You basically go back to gold standard, problem with this is good luck getting a burger at BK Brother with gold".

Now it doesnt mean you can do 90 down any street you wish, or carry a shot gun into a super market, it mainly means that. You dont pay taxes, and you dont want your governments support what so ever. SO, if you get pulled over for speeding "use common sense here" you can say "Im Sovreign leave me be". They will try to take you into custody but you will win in court time and time again. :\ Its a odd thing. Look it up.
interesting.
You hit on alot of different topics.
Almost too many.
I agree with you for the most part, esecially about actually getting up and doing something to change the world for the better, but there is an irony about you posting this on the net.
:)
of course there is. But, I am also going to make flyers of this *when i get photoshop... blast not having money* and post them around town that simply say, "Stand up, Make Change." or something along those lines. And yes, the internet is a stationary position, however it sure does reach a lot of people ;)
